What is the Foodscapes Garden Project (FGP)?

The FGP partners with Mainers who are currently experiencing limited resources to increase accessibility to sufficient, safe, and nutritious foods.  We start by building raised vegetable gardens alongisde income eligible households in Maine.

Gardeners benefit from the FGP program through the following materials and services:
  • Three 4' x 8' Raised bed gardens, a 100 square foot in ground bed, OR 3 container gardens
  • Soil and compost
  • Wide selection of seeds and end of season cover crop
  • Various vegetable seedlings
  • Gardening mentorship
  • Access to gardening, cooking, and wellness workshops throughout the year
  • Access to a growing network of organic gardeners in Southern Maine
  • A Growing Guide for Maine-based Gardening

Please contact the FGP Coordinators at [email protected] with any questions.

Did you know?  Maine Foodscapes is a Community Agriculture organization.

We provide opportunities for families, individuals, businesses, municipalities, and community groups to install gardens and increase their skills in gardening, cooking, and wellness-based practices.

We recognize that gardens are powerful spaces of healing and transformation for a variety of populations. Through actively increasing food access and educational opportunities for all Mainers, we are assisting individuals and households at risk of food insecurity in their own self-empowerment. We work from the ground up. Maine Foodscapes’ mission is to grow gardens, leaders, and resiliency throughout our communities and neighborhoods.
Maine Foodscapes has been building raised bed vegetable gardens for our community since 2018. We can’t wait for the season ahead!
